Introduction
School No6 has marked a 50 anniversary… this is quite a long time period even for one life. But if one tries to see how many children's lives, stories, lives, teachers' careers, historic events is contained in this path then you will understand that time is passing quickly. Today, entering its sixths decade the school still accepts new pupils and remains a reliable island of happiness and trust for those who call it “my school”. There are so many things that are related to this as it seems to be a simple and plain word – school. Who does not remember how we being pupils were hurrying up to attend lessons and were eager to learn something new and exciting and to get acquainted with interesting people and learnt about interesting events. Who does not remember how we were waiting for holidays and school- leaving party to be able to plunge into the adult life. And then after graduation from the university and finding a job we would want to bring the careless times back. Some are visiting their teachers from time to time, organise meetings of classmates or simply attend them. Others have never been back to school from the date of finishing.

Zinaida Osmanova, Atyrau city:
“I was attending the school from 1968-1979. I have the warmest memories about those times. Regardless of the fact that our school was not one of the best in the city: we used to study in old buildings, pupils had to change buildings, but we still received excellent knowledge. Our Head master was Vasilisa Pavlovna Gostyushkina who was a teacher of Mathematics at the same time. It was my favourite subject. Our form master was Nina Fyodorovna Karamysheva who was a teacher of Russian and Literature.
Our teachers were wonderful. We had open classrooms in literature together with Nina Fyodorovna and we were studying with pleasure after work, we used to get together to discuss different themes, she was a second mother for us. After finishing the school we went for a boat trip on a power boat “Khudat” together with the whole class and our form master. We took trips to Kandaurovskiy forest. It was a great time. When I entered a fishing college I remember our teacher of German told us, the pupils who finished school No6 the following: “Why did you come here, you did not bring any knowledge from that school. But we managed to prove our knowledge. I took the first prize in a Competition in Mathematics and German. I was a captain of the team of the Club of the Cheerful and Inventive in German! And I became a favourite in the group. Therefore there is something that we can be proud of.

Svetlana Klimenova, Kolomna city, Moscow region:
“I am very proud to be a graduate of a 8 year school No6 where I was studying from 1961 till 1969. My first teacher was Anna Ivanovna Sherstyankina who was so small, chubby and so active that we always liked spending time with her. I recollect with nostalgia my dear, small and comfortable school. It was comfortable indeed, all pupils were under constant supervision of teachers and everything was in order. Our Head Master was Shamsiya Dzhumagalievna Dzhumagalieva who was very strict but fair. When I met her after some time she was so glad to see me again and we used to see each other as relatives. The head of studies was Vasilisa Pavlovna Gostushkina and she was really very strict on us and we were all very afraid of her. But the main instigator at the school was a chief pioneer leader Mariya Pavlovna Petrova who was a real soul mate (God Bless), she knew how to get ourselves interested in things. I remember how we once went to the Kandaurovskiy forest with her to do orienting exercise. It was so good and it reminds me of the modern TV programme “The Rigorous Games” but believe me it all was so enjoyable and interesting and there were representatives of all the city schools and we were singing songs by the fire, ah, these are all unforgettable memories. Our 5th form teacher master was Anna Ivanovna Kokoreva who was a teacher of Mathematics. She was a very strict teacher but nevertheless we used to visit her at home quite often and had tea sessions and had lots of discussions. I loved my teacher of Literature and Russian as well, Galina Dmitrievna Peseridi, one could always joke with her and this was what we did on the 1st of April and she never offended by it. Galina Sergeevna Kantseva our teacher in Geography and Biology was an open, happy and kind lady. Mariya Georgievna Katkova, a teacher of Physics who we were all afraid of was unapproachable, when she was entering the classroom there was a total silence in the room that we could hear a fly flying. Sophiya Konstantinovna Dorokhova, a teacher of German, had a nickname “German” but she was a kind woman. Generally speaking it was great times, the school years is the most memorable period. I was an activist and always participated in all the school events. I recently received a letter from Konstantin Zhigalov who now lives in Germany and he still remembers me playing a role of the Motherhood at the 9th of May celebrations which was performed in a small club located close to the shop in Selstroy, so he still remembers about it. There was one more building belonging to our school over there a so called affiliate but it was knocked down later on. When I was visiting Atyrau last year I went to visit the school but they already built a new two storey building at that place, of course it is a very beautiful and modern looking building standing at the place where our small “oldie” used to be. For some reason I became pitiful for our small, comfortable, bright and always smelling good of fresh paint on the 1st of September but you can not do anything, time is passing and now it is our grandchildren sitting at desks in the new and modern school- it was all so long time ago. I want to wish all the present pupils a big success in studying, active school life, health, happiness and well- being. We are the graduates of school No6 and we are proud of our teachers. We never forget the ones who went to a better world and to the once who are alive I wish a good health and thank you for your titanic work and for everything that you did for us. Everything that we learned from you has found its good use in life!

Viktor Gorbunov:
“Secondary school No6 which became an 8 year school is one of the oldest educational institutions in the city. It is celebrating 50 years anniversary in October 2010. These days the school has a modern building but a few years ago our “eight-year” school looked differently: it was two self- supporting one storey buildings of hut type. Primary school (1-3 form) was in one building and senior classes (4-8 forms) were in the other building. There was an asphalt walkway between the two buildings which was a place for school gatherings, line ups, “first” and “last” bell. Our school was the most comfortable and dear to us. Not everyone knows that during the Great World War and afterwards during 1940-1950s there was a war hospital located in these buildings. On the 1st of September, 1960 the school was opened for its first pupils. Fifty years passed since then. A few generations passed and nowadays it is children and grandchildren of the first graduates attend the school. Our Curriculum Director Tanusha Odinochenko (oh, sorry, Tatyana Jurevna Khitrova) is a graduate of 1983, honours student, a lead of the Young Communist League and a real beauty. I studied from 1976 till 1984.
Our Director was Vasilisa Pavlovna Gostushkina and then Mariya Nikolaevna Utebayeva- Tsoi. Vasilisa Pavlovna will always set the example of a strict intellectuality, respect for children and a never ending devotion to her profession. Our Curriculum Director was Zinaida Alekseevna Zelyonova.
Form mistresses: Polina Ilinichna Serduk (primary calsses), Nina Fyodorovna Karamysheva Teachers: Nina Fyodorovna Karamysheva (Russian and Literature), Zhamal Kasymovna Shaudanova (Geography and History, Irina Isetovna (Biology and Chemistry), Vera Nikolaevna Kiseleva (Mathematics), Roza Mukashevna Mukasheva (The Kazakh Language), Alphiya Akhmetovna (German), Gulzhikhan Kabdualievna Kabdrakhmanovna (German), Iya Anatolevna Medvedeva (Physics, Drawing, Drafting, Nikolai Borisovich Zhegulyavtsev (labour nurturing)”

Nina Nikolaevna Gostushkina (daughter of Vasilisa Pavlovna Gostushkina):
“I studied at school No6 as well but at the infant school from 1962 till 1965. My teacher was Natalia Grigorevna Ikonnikova. I was transferred to School No8 afterwards. We now live in Stavropol. I was reading opinions about the school to my mother over the phone and she was glad to know that former pupils have such warm feelings about the school. My mother unfortunately is not very healthy these days and she does not walk but she remembers everything very well. My mother is sending a big “Hello” to you and a big thank you for kind words. There is no a bigger reward for a teacher than memories and appreciation of pupils. In XXI century relationship “parent-pupil-teacher” is totally different. I recall “our” times with a special warm feeling. I work at school and that is why I feel the difference between past and present, I get to think about our school and I have sincere feelings for it”.

Svetlana Pavlovna Kalmykova:
“I remember our small eight year school. I studied there from the 1st of September till May, 1976. My first teacher was Tamara Georgievna Khoroshkina. I remember a long and narrow corridor with celebration posters on the wall. At the end of the corridor to the left a zinc tank with boiled water which appears white in twilight. The rooms of Chemistry and Zoology are opposite it, this was the place where amazing things were kept: herbarium of plants, organisms preserved in alcohol and the main exhibit which was producing curiosity of all the pupils – a man's skeleton. There was a room of History and Geography in this left part of the building as well. To the right from the entrance on the right hand side of the corridor the first door is the room of the Russian Language and Literature where we had portraits of classic writers of the Russian Literature. Further on there is a door of another not of lesser importance room of Physics where ampermeters and rheostats are sitting comfortably in cabinets and the most favourite thing the ebonite stick which would draw your hair if you rub it against a wool school uniform. There were massive wooden desks in classes with wide benches and pupils on duty would put them on the side if they wanted to wash floors. We so much loved to sit on top of desks when we were finished with cleaning and we liked to whisper secrets to each others' ears about all the things in this world. I remember our cleaners Auntie Motya and Anya Bairamova. In rainy days there was a big puddle of liquid mud around the school therefore we know their work was so hard. Hooligans always tried to get inside without changing their footwear avoiding pupils on duty who were standing wearing red arm-bands on their left arms. Those arm-bands were kept at the teachers' office and were transferred to form masters according to the schedule. The teachers' office! Pupils would knock its door very quietly and entered it tremblingly when teachers asked them to go and bring a piece of chalk or a class register. Hanging on a three leg stand there was a thick layer of maps on History and Geography with strips of woods carefully attached to the top at the school workshop. On top of bookcase there was a model of our Earth that was always attracting our attention – the globe! Opposite the entrance at the front there was a portrait of D.Kunaev. Next to the teachers' room there was a Director's office – the most fearful place for all the school hooligans. Further on there was the Lenin's room where things related to pioneering and the Young Communist League were stored and the main relic – the school flag! The infant school building apart from classrooms there was a sports hall where gatherings of pioneers took place and celebrations of the New Year. And there was one more attractive place in that building – the canteen! This was the place where we all went during the long break in order to buy a small bottle of milk and shortcake or a doughnut with jam. They seemed to be incredibly delicious to us in those times. There was a gravel walkway built between the two buildings and we used to have celebration line ups there dedicated to first and last bells. I remember the school on the first of September, how clean it was and the exciting aroma of paint after refurbishment works. I am travelling in my thoughts through the corridor of our small eight year school. I can hear voices of our teacher behind the closed doors. Where are you, our dear teachers? You stay forever in my memory young, always beautiful, full of energy and love for your work. I make a profound bow to you”!

Asyk – is bone of the sheep's stifle joint. The Asyk game still remains one of the popular games with Kazakhs. It improves your vision and helps to develop dexterity. There are many different types of the game: “Alsha”, “Tagan”, “Circle”, “Shik-Buk”. The biggest assyk bones were used as a strike bone which is called “saka”. If a player has a good “saka” then his chances to win increase.

Kobyz - The Kazakh music instrument. It is related to an old legend where life celebrates a victory over death. It tells a story about a wise man named Korkyt ata who failing to find a salvation from death on earth created a music instrument and played a first melody on it. This melody was transferred from one man to another, from one generation to the other and managed to find eternal life.

Soldiers were getting a very thorough training and in half a year's time when they gained skills and experience they were sent to Afghanistan in June 1981. He participated in over twenty raids.
Landing forces do not know where they go
And Commanders realize it
They only know orientations
And we know only the illuminator star
The star of hope. And for us it is-
Happy and kind as our mother and it is persistent and stubborn as our dad,-
It is giving a light in the night with no stop and sleep. Everyone of us has his own star.

«To My Mother»
Congratulations with your birthday,
I wish you to live long, long years, I wrote a poem for you Oh well, may be it's not. I want to express my wish here, For your care, kindness and warm feelings For your love and for bringing me up, It wasn't easy, was it? Here in the Army I realised many things, That the most loving and the most kind to me Is you my Dear Mother. |
I am sending you my soldier's Hello.
I get to think of you often at nights, The warmth of your kind arms. You've done so many things for me, My good, faithful and close friend. I want to wish you many things, I just can not express it all in the poem. And when I come back, my Dear Mother, I will tell you about everything not in letters, But in words. |

Conclusion
A history of a school is always a memory of the children's childhood. A school's history is a memory of teachers as well who dedicated their whole life to school. A life of a school is connected with children and their teachers and with their studies and the way they conducted school events. Keep in mind that things that happen today become a history tomorrow.
